Dental Emergency Ashburton & Ashwood
What is a dental emergency?
If a dental issue requires immediate treatment, it is considered an emergency. Not addressing the problem may result in the loss of a tooth, excessive bleeding, pain, etc.
In most cases, you’ll know whether or not it’s an emergency. Call our office today if you believe you need immediate treatment!
What are some examples of dental emergencies?
A chipped, cracked, or fractured tooth is serious. It can affect your teeth’s structural integrity and even lead to infection.
To adequately address your broken tooth, we will do an X-ray.
Damage to the pulp (the soft tissue inside of the tooth) means you’ll likely need a root canal. Damage to the outside might mean you just need a crown. Whatever the problem, our team will come up with the best course of action.
If one of your teeth gets knocked out, it’s essential to call a dentist right away. This will increase the chances of us being able to reinsert the tooth successfully.
You can also increase your chances of saving the tooth by adequately preserving it. Do this by picking up the tooth by the crown and gently washing it off. Carefully place the tooth back in the socket and bite down.
